Tiger Wheel & Tyre was founded with modest beginnings on a residential plot in a modest Johannesburg, South Africa, suburb. Over the course of the last 50+ years, Tiger Wheel & Tyre has grown into the reputable name in automotive fitment and service excellence that so many people have come to rely on today. Jimmy Joannou, the company's original founder and a budding local entrepreneur, started a new business when he returned from Canada in 1967. He did this by using his newly acquired ability to transform used rims into hand-made custom wheels. When he opened Tiger Speed Den, an accessory store, with his friend and business partner Dennis Cohen, this newfound interest quickly became profitable. Tiger Speed Den eventually moved to larger facilities on Mint Road in Fordsburg as the company grew, combining manufacturing with retail and spray-painting services. Eddie Keizan, a South African race car driver, acquired the business for R14,000 in 1972, less than ten years later. He later rose to the position of CEO of Tiger Wheel & Tyre, as it is now known. Sadly, Keizan passed away in 2016, but his legacy and values are still carried on by the brand he loved so much.
