St. Georges Cathedral, the oldest cathedral in Southern Africa and the mother church of the Anglican Diocese of Cape Town, is also known as the Peoples Cathedral for its role in the resistance movement against apartheid. We cordially invite you to tour our magnificent and historic structure and join our active congregation, which makes a significant contribution to the Cathedral's and the larger Cape Town community. St. Georges Cathedral is a congregation in the Diocese of Cape Town as well as the Metropolitical Church of the Anglican Church of Southern Africa. As a result, it provides for a large number of individuals from various backgrounds, both inside and outside of our own congregation, who look to the Cathedral for leadership, spiritual direction, and sustenance. All that we do at the Cathedral is undertaken in the spirit of trust in and gratitude for Gods overarching love and the belief that through compassion shown to others, whoever they may be, Gods love is manifested in the world. Making a donation to the Cathedral ministry is based on one's belief in Jesus Christ and gratitude that we are erecting tiny enclaves of heaven wherever we are. Giving—large or small, in the form of a recurring monthly donation or a one-time gift—makes a difference. We invite you to join St. George's Cathedral in making the world a better and more compassionate place, no matter what you decide to donate. CAPE TOWN'S ST. You are welcome at any of our Common Ground churches, regardless of your views on religion and God. We meet all over Cape Town because we are enthusiastic about God and our community. We are here to evangelise our community and deeply engage our culture with the good news of Jesus. While also being earthly citizens, Jesus' followers are members of the Kingdom. We observe in our city and country how racism and prejudice are sins that permeate our society, causing suffering and bringing up significant issues that need to be addressed. This affects each and every one of us. As a church, we believe that the Bible should be the loudest voice for followers of Jesus despite the fact that there are numerous competing voices, perspectives, and narratives surrounding this issue. It exhorts us to think, confess, and take action. The gospel illuminates this issue with its brilliant light. Regardless of our level of religious experience, we should all strive to become more like Christ in this area of our lives. All of us need to more fully submit certain areas of our lives to Christ's sanctifying work. In order to change and better glorify him in our lives, we ask him to keep revealing aspects of our personal and church practises that are not in submission to him. He is the one we want to emulate in our interactions with, service to, and love for one another. He is also our saviour and healer. Click the button below to read more about our views on diversity.
