In 2003, the gallery debuted as Michael Stevenson in Green Point, Cape Town. In 2008, it teamed up with David Brodie to launch Brodie/Stevenson in Johannesburg. The Cape Town gallery relocated to its current Woodstock location in the same year. From 2010 to 2019, the Johannesburg gallery, which is presently in Parktown North, was situated in Braamfontein.
